Two inmates have been stabbed in Mountjoy Prison in an attack which is believed to be linked to the ongoing Hutch-Kinahan crime feud.
Thomas Fox, aged 29, who has been charged with the murder of Gareth Hutch, was allegedly rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the head this morning.
According to The Independent Fox was stabbed after a fight broke out in Mountjoy Prison this morning. A second man is said to have been stabbed in the fight.
Both inmates were brought to the Mater Hospital but their injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.
Gardaí and the Irish Prison Service officials are investigating whether the attack this morning is linked to the ongoing Hutch-Kinahan feud. The feud has claimed the lives of 11 people.
Mr Fox is due to face trial on the charges in the Special Criminal Court for the murder of Gareth Hutch. Gareth Hutch, aged 35, was shot dead as he was getting into his car outside on North Cumberland Street in Dublin on the 24th of May last year.
